Nature Exploration
Our nature school encourages hands-on, open-ended exploration, fostering a deep connection with the environment. Children spend ample time outdoors in our play yard and adjacent wooded acres, tending to pet chickens and the garden. Our program emphasizes outdoor learning through gardening, nature walks, wildlife observation, and seasonal activities like digging, climbing, building, and discovering. This direct interaction with nature cultivates a sense of wonder and respect while enhancing sensory, motor, and social skills. Our approach nurtures curiosity and provides a solid foundation for lifelong learning and environmental stewardship.

Our holistic, mixed-age curriculum offers a personalized learning approach that respects each child's unique developmental pace and interests. Combining the beauty of Waldorf early education with the rich benefits of the nature and forest school movement, Ms. Barbara crafts daily and seasonal rhythms that cater to the whole child. Our dedicated urban cottage classroom provides a sunlit indoor space where children enjoy artistic experiences like painting, cooking, and puppetry, along with daily stories, songs, and imaginative social play. This nurturing rhythm fosters a love for learning and builds confidence in their unique gifts.
Community
Social Development
Our program places a strong emphasis on community and social development, creating a warm, inclusive environment where children feel valued and supported. A small class size ensures ample attention and meaningful social interactions. This sense of community helps children build strong friendships and learn essential social skills such as empathy, cooperation, and conflict resolution. Throughout the year, Gooseberry will also collaborate with Dandelion House Nursery in Northside, Ohio to offer festivals and holiday celebrations, connecting our communities and enriching our social experiences.
